Somatic Therapy

Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.

~Peter Levine, Creator of Somatic Experiencing

You’ve started to feel uneasy.

There’s this tightness in your chest that won’t seem to go away. You’re having trouble sleeping. You feel on edge.

You wish you could relax again. What would that even feel like? And how?

Somatic (body-based) therapy works directly with your body to help you feel like yourself again.

Your body is a natural storyteller.

In somatic therapy, you’ll learn to pay attention to its narrative.

In your busy life, you’ve often had to push past anxiety, poor nights of sleep, feeling overwhelmed, and other emotions to get the job done. And your body often ends up holding onto those emotions that you haven’t been able to release directly.

As a somatic therapist, I notice what’s happening with your body when you speak.

How your chest gets tight.

How your breath gets short.

How talking about certain things impacts your ability to be present.

You’ll also start to notice what your body is holding. And together, we’ll work to let it go.

Listen. Learn. Heal.

You’ll learn to use your body to become more aware of what you’re feeling and to move deeper into your healing. Somatic therapy helps you stay grounded when things start to become overwhelming.

Somatic therapy in conjunction with talk therapy is a powerful combination.

Maybe you’ve reached an impasse in your journey – maybe you understand what’s going on, but you just can’t seem to move past it.

Bringing somatic therapy into the work allows for a different way of accessing yourself. Somatic therapy with me is not centered around physical touch, but rather about letting you explore what your own body is holding. It’s a different way of tapping into your body, mind, and spirit.
